Traditionally, when people find an exciting new product or business concept, they start by talking to their friends and family.  When those possibilities run out, people usually look to other forms of advertising such as newspaper ads and flyers.  While this can be effctive, it's very much a form of shotgun marketing and just hoping that one of the many people you advertise to might be interested.  At this point, most people start working smarter rather than harder and realize that there are ways to find qualified people that are actively looking for what you have.
